Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport Offers Airlines Up to 100% Fee Discounts for New Routes

Direct flights are the lifeblood of a heritage destination, and Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport has moved aggressively to protect them. Under an incentive programme running from August 2025 to the end of March 2027, airlines that launch newly scheduled routes can receive discounts of up to 100 percent on landing, parking and lighting fees during the first year of service.

The early results are mixed but instructive. In the first quarter of 2026 the airport handled 4,959 flights, up around five percent year on year, even as passenger numbers eased to roughly 480,092 — a sign that carriers are holding routes open through a soft patch rather than cutting them. Preserving that connectivity is exactly what a recovery needs.

More direct routes from a wider set of markets reduces the destination’s dependence on any single gateway or source country — a vulnerability that became painfully clear when overland traffic fell earlier in the cycle.

For guides and operators, new air links are the top of the funnel. The Online Guide Association is watching route announcements closely so members can align their language skills, marketing and capacity with the markets that new flights bring.
